Bike keys go missing in campus garages on Tasman Dr, in hotel lots near the convention center, on the racks by the Caltrain station and in apartment carports along Lawrence Expressway. Wafer Lock & Key cuts keys for Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Harley-Davidson, Triumph, BMW, Ducati, KTM, Vespa and most scooters, at the bike, from the ignition or a lock code. No trailer, and no waiting on a dealer's parts counter.
Paperwork comes first, because nothing is easier to wheel away than a motorcycle: ID against a registration or a title, before any lock is read. Then the ignition or the seat lock is decoded. Factories key most bikes alike, so one correct blade should run the ignition, the fuel cap, the seat and the helmet lock, and every one of those is tried rather than assumed. Bikes with an immobilizer, Honda's HISS, BMW's EWS, the Ducati red-key arrangement and the newer keyless systems among them, need the chip enrolled with the bike's module, which is done on site. The fork lock is turned several times before the van leaves, since that is the lock most likely to bind on a key cut a fraction shallow.
Motorcycle keys run $109 to $265. A plain mechanical key for an older Honda or a scooter is $109. Transponder keys, and immobilizer bikes where no key exists and the module has to be read, reach $265. The $89 visit is inside that figure. An ignition lock damaged past reading, which is what a failed theft attempt leaves behind, is quoted as its own line before any work starts. Weekends carry no premium; only the $45 evening and $80 overnight figures apply.
Describe: the make, model and year, whether the bike has an immobilizer, and whether any key still exists. Agree: the figure on that call. Cut: ownership, the cut, programming where it is needed, and a test of the ignition, the fuel cap, the seat, the helmet lock and the fork lock. Card or tap at the bike, receipt by email.
“Townhome off Rivermark Plaza, door pulled shut behind me with the keys and the baby monitor both inside. Quoted $149 on the call, text with the technician's name two minutes later, van in eighteen. He picked the deadbolt in about three minutes and the keypad on the garage stayed exactly as it was. $149 on the card and the receipt in my inbox before I had the stroller back in.”
Every job is priced from the list below. One figure is agreed on the call; nothing is revised at the door, and the receipt repeats it.

FAQ
Motorcycle Keys: quick answers
Harley with no key at all, in a campus garage.+
Ordinary work. Most Harley ignition switches and fork locks can be read at the bike and a key cut to the code found in them. Models with a fob-based security system need the fob paired or the PIN entered, done with you standing beside the bike. Text the deck and the bay.
An electric scooter or a small commuter scooter?+
Gas scooters are cut and priced like small motorcycles, and most use simple locks that read quickly. Some have a shuttered ignition opened by a separate magnetic key; if yours does, say so on the call, because the shutter key is its own item. Electric scooters with an app-only lock are a different trade and you are told so on the call.
Someone went at the ignition with a screwdriver. Now nothing turns.+
A punched or twisted ignition usually has broken wafers inside and cannot be read. The lock is removed, and either the cylinder is rebuilt to your existing key or a replacement goes in keyed to match the seat and the fuel cap. That figure is named before any panel comes off.
